2 iPods, 1 PC: Mngmt Screen

More and more homes have more iPod and a single computer. That leads to the question: How do I manage multiple iPods on one computer?

There are a number of techniques for this; more complex technique that you choose, the more control you have over the Synchronizing music and other content to your iPod. This article is perhaps the easiest way to manage multiple iPods on one computer using the iPod Management screen. Easy to configure and manageAllows all the music to be stored in a library (simple) possibility to sync music not controlAllows wantLess all the music to be stored in a library (potentially confusing)

While this is probably the easiest way to manage multiple iPods on one computer, it is not the most accurate.

1. to start, connect the iPod first (or iPhone or iPad) you want to manage begin synchronization. (If you are by setting your iPod for the first time, be sure to uncheck the box "automatically synchronize the songs on my iPod" in step 7.)

2. at the top of the standard iPod Manager screen are a number of tabs. Find one with tag "music" (where it is in the list will depend on which device you're sync) and click it.

3. On the screen, there are options for selecting which music will be synchronized for the iPod. The following check boxes: "sync music" and "Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres." Be sure to leave the checkbox "automatically fill space with the songs".

4. in each of the four boxes below--playlists, artists, albums and genres--you will be able to see the contents of your computer's iTunes library. Check the box next to the items you want synced to iPod in each of the four areas.

(This is where the lack of control. For example, if you only want some songs from an album of data, you can do; You must synchronize the entire album. If you want only one album by a particular artist, be sure to choose only that album in the album box, rather than everything from that artist in the artists. If you don't, someone could add other album that machine, and would end up their synchronization without meaning. See how this can get complicated?)

5. After you have selected everything you want to synchronize your iPod, click the Apply button in the lower-right corner of the window. This save these settings and synchronize the contents that you chose.

6. unplug the iPod and the repetition of the process for all other iPod models that you want to use with this machine.
